Incubateur

Thanks to their history and expertise, SECONDE NATURE and ZINC drive professional structuring at different levels by initiating federations as well as participating in juries and working groups.

At the metropolitan level: SECONDE NATURE has been a member of the Marseille Expos network (now known as PAC – Provence Art Contemporain) since 2017. The network connects institutions, galleries, artists, curators, and associations that work towards contemporary creation in visual arts.

At the regional level: in order to reinforce the visibility of the ecosystem of digital art and culture, in 2017, SECONDE NATURE and ZINC created a platform to support the production and distribution of original works. This fund was initiated by the Sud region and later joined by the City of Marseille. It brings together a dozen structures from the fields of digital art, creative industries, performing arts and contemporary art. Every other year, backed by an international jury, the platform selects over ten artists that are awarded financial assistance and/or a residency. The productions are then shown during CHRONIQUES, the Biennale of Digital Imagination, and given regional, national and international visibility.

At the national level: the HACNUM network was born in 2020, after informal exchanges between approximately 60 structures in the field of French digital art and culture since 2017; and the publication of an action-study led by Raphaël Besson, funded by the Ministry of Culture and supported by SECONDE NATURE and ZINC, which identified the artistic and cultural agents involved in the production and dissemination of digital art and culture in France. It counts approximately 40 members, and is chaired by Céline Berthoumieux, the director of ZINC and co-director of the CHRONIQUES Biennale.

At the international level: SECONDE NATURE and ZINC have forged close ties with the international scene in three areas. Participation in European projects through the Creative Europe programme (Future Divercities and the promotion of social innovation methods for collaborative artistic creation at the service of 3.0 cities; Risk Change and the artistic exploration of increasing migrations and climate change). Working with guest countries during our flagship event CHRONIQUES, thus creating a cooperative relationship (Quebec in 2018, Taiwan in 2020...). Disseminating the works produced within the framework of our CHRONIQUES production platform beyond borders.
